Baseball Roundup: Brook Hill goes to 3-0 in district

CARROLLTON — Braxton Durrett belted a grand slam as the Brook Hill Guard registered their ninth straight win, a 17-2 victory over Carrollton Prince of Peace on Tuesday in a TAPPS Division III District 2 baseball game.

Brook Hill improves to 9-1 on the season and 3-0 in district. The Eagles fall to 6-5 and 0-3.

Ben Braatz got the win on the mound, going two innings while striking out two, allowing one hit, no runs with no walks.

Luke Visser had three hits, including a triple, for the Guard and drove in four runs, while Durrett had five RBIs. Levi Visser had two hits.



Samuel Williams and Lex Rich added doubles with singles from Blake Whitten, Cooper Schock and Dallas Clements. CJ Bird had a sacrifice fly.

Levi Visser had two RBIs with one each from Schock, Bird, Williams and Clements.

Scoring runs were Whitten (3), Luke Visser (2), Price James (2), Rich (2), Levi Visser (2), Tommy Hilliard (1), Aidan Pitts (1), Williams (1), Durrett (1), Ben Crutsinger (1) and Braatz (1).

The two teams are scheduled to meet again on Friday in Bullard. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Pine Tree 16, Tyler High 2

M.J. Cates struck out 10 in six innings, Caden Donley homered, doubled and drove in four runs to pace the offense and Pine Tree scored a 16-2 win over the Tyler High Lions at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Mike Carter Field.

Cates walked four and gave up one earned run and one hit. Collin Estes pitched one inning, striking out two and walking one.

At the dish, Estes doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs. Dean McMillen added two hits. Bosston Johnson singled twice and drove in a run, and Jose Aranda added an RBI.

Nicolas Viramontes had an RBI single for the Lions.

Pine Tree led 5-2 entering the sixth inning. The Pirates then scored five in the sixth and six in the seventh.

Dante Martinez starter for Tyler, striking out eight in four-plus innings of work.

The Lions (1-12, 0-3) play host to Hallsville at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Pirates (11-7, 1-2) are scheduled to host Mount Pleasant at 7 p.m. Friday.

Spring Hill 13, Henderson 1

HENDERSON — Trent Thompson collected four hits, Wyatt McFadin, Mason Barnes and Carson Tidwell all drove in two runs and the Spring Hill Panthers rolled to a 13-1 win over Henderson.

Thompson doubled once and singled three times for the Pirates. McFadin tripled and doubled. Cayden Rhodes doubled and singled, and Travis Allen and Barnes had two singles apiece. Tidwell also doubled for the Panthers, and Cayson Wilkins and Josiah Mackey drove in runs.

Andrew Grooters struck out two and walked two in four innings on the mound.

Carthage 12, Kilgore 0

KILGORE — Matthew Smith struck out six with no walks in a complete game on the hill, and Ty Chambers drove in two runs for Carthage in a 12-0 win over Kilgore.

Sam Watson, Carson Crawford, Cade Moore and Dillon Davenport all had two hits for Carthage, with Moore doubling and Watson, Davenport, Brooks Soape and Maddox Martinez all driving in runs.

Tate Truman doubled and singled in the loss for Kilgore. Tanner Beets struck out one and walked two in 3.2 innings. Brody Benson fanned three and walked one in 2.2 frames.

Tatum 7, West Rusk 1

TATUM — Grant Adcock collected three hits, including a double, Kohen Kiefer drove in two runs and the Tatum Eagles notched a 7-1 win over West Rusk.

Ashby Anthony doubled and singled, and Dustin Henigan and Carson Gonzalez added a double and an RBI apiece for Tatum. Gonzalez handled the pitching chores, striking out eight and walking three in seven innings.

Jason Reasoner had the lone hit in the loss for West Rusk. Kullin Tavarez struck out six and walked two in 5.2 innings.

Harmony 10, Mineola 0

MINEOLA — Tucker Tittle struck out nine and walked three, pitching three-hit ball over five innings as Harmony blanked Mineola, 10-0.

Boston Seahorn tripled once and singled twice for the Eagles. Will Young had two hits and two RBI, Riley Patterson a triple, single and RBI, Tittle a single and three RBI, Haden Johnson a single and two RBI and Braxton Baker a double and an RBI.

Harleton 25, Leverett’s

Chapel 0

LEVERETT’S CHAPEL — Carson Wallace homered, singled twice and drove in seven runs, Cameron Johnson added two hits and six RBI and the No. 1 ranked Harleton Wildcats rolled to a 25-0 win over Leverett’s Chapel.

Kayden Skaggs tossed a three-inning no-hitter, striking out four and issuing no walks. Caleb Correa doubled, singled and drove in two runs. Shawn Booth had two hits and an RBI, and Skaggs, Tyler Crossley, Bryce Lockhart and Gage Shirts all drove in runs for Harleton.

Union Grove 5, Hawkins 4

UNION GROVE — Jacob Griffin singled and drove in two runs for Union Grove, and Carter Cooper went the distance on the mound for the Lions in a 5-4 win over Hawkins.

Cooper struck out six and walked three, and Cason Cowan singled and drove in a run for the Lions.

Beckville 17, New Summerfield 2

BECKVILLE — Baker Seegers singled twice and drove in three runs, Jackson Lambright, Aiden Brantley and Brock White all added two RBI for the Bearcats and Beckville notched a 17-2 win over New Summerfield.

Lambright doubled once and singled twice, and Brantley added a double and a single. Braxton Bullock and Brady Davis doubled and drove in runs, and Brock White singled and plated a couple of runs. Coleman Bullock also chipped in with a single.

Davis struck out five and walked none in two innings.

Overton 13, Union Hill 1

BETTIE — Joey Zalman doubled twice and drove in three runs, Mason Rowe, Rylan Holleman, Elijah Dorsey and Bryson Bobbitt all collected two RBI and Overton rolled past Union Hill, 13-1.

Rowe had two hits, and Bryce Still doubled for the Mustangs. Braxton Harper and Landon Hill also drove in runs. Hill struck out four and walked four in five innings on the mound.
