Patriots win Centenary CC Meet

SHREVEPORT, La. — The UT Tyler men’s cross country team had an impressive showing at the Centenary College Invitational, placing seven runners in the top 10 for a first-place team finish, on Saturday.

Junior Nick Huff ran a team-best 26 minutes and 45.80 seconds in the 8K, good enough for a second-place overall finish.

Senior Will Krogman finished third, running a 26:55.50, while teammate Ford Noack finished right-behind with a time of 27:08.90.

A group of Patriots finished out the next few spots, Matthew Markert, Conner Benson, Jason Hamilton and Kyle Clawson finished in order from sixth to ninth, finishing out the strong race for UT Tyler.

The Patriots placed ahead of second-place finisher Wiley, followed by LeTourneau and Centenary.



The UT Tyler men hit the course again Oct. 13 at the Arkansas Chili Pepper Run in Fayetteville, Ark.

Patriot women roll

SHREVEPORT, La. — The UT Tyler women’s cross country team finished in first-place at the Centenary Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. The win is the second first-place finish for the ladies this season.

The Patriots had five runners finish in the top five, including freshman Brittany Brunson who placed second overall with a time of 24:46.08 in the 6K race.

Teammate Baylee Talaska ran a 25:39.39, good enough for fourth-place while Missy Hebert finished in sixth-place with a time of 25:24.55.

The other top 10 finishers for the Patriots included Christian Rowlands and Susan Hudson who placed seventh and ninth-place, respectively.

UT Tyler outlasted the other schools in the event, including LeTourneau who finished second, followed by Centenary, Wiley College, Austin College and Louisiana Tech.

The Patriots will now head east to the Mississippi College meet on Oct 13.

UT Tyler VB post 2 wins

BELTON — The UT Tyler volleyball team closed out the American Southwest Conference Dig Pink Crossover II Tournament with 3-0 wins over Sul Ross State and Howard Payne on Saturday

Against Sul Ross, the Patriots (9-11, 4-8) scored a 25-13, 25-18, 25-19 win.

Freshman Rachel Harvey continued her strong play, finishing with a team-high 12 kills, while teammate Breanna Brummett had 10 kills and two aces.

Gabby Feliciano once again had a nice match, contributing 10 kills with freshman Janel Cox adding 24 assists, three blocks and four kills.

In the first match, UT Tyler rolled over Howard Payne, 26-24, 25-19, 25-21.

Cox had another strong performance with 30 assists.

Sophomore Emily Wood finished the match with 12 digs, while teammate Morgan Hugo finished with nine.

Brummett and Feliciano also played a big-role in the win, finishing with eight and nine kills, respectively, while Harvey had 10 kills of her own.

The Patriots return to play on Thursday playing Centenary (6 p.m.) and Rust (8 p.m.) at the Centenary Tri-Match in Shreveport, La.
