UT Tyler women’s soccer team begins season

For the first time since playing a match in France during the summer, the UT Tyler women’s soccer team plays an official game on American soil on Thursday.

The Patriots begin their second season in NCAA Division II, but their first with scholarship players, with a match against LSU-Shreveport on the pitch at Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex on the UT Tyler campus.

The game has a 7 p.m. scheduled start.

The Patriots played three international friendlies during their trip to France as the World Cup was going on.

Stefani Webb enters her 15th season as head coach of the Patriots, having compiled a record of 177-60-18 record and taken the Patriots to the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2014 and 2015.



The Patriots were 11-2-1 last year while competing in the American Southwest Conference while transitioning from D-III to D-II. UT Tyler is now part of the NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference.

UT Tyler will also be at home on Saturday, taking on Ouachita Baptist. The contest has a 4 p.m. start.

The UT Tyler men’s soccer team, under coach Kenny Jones, begins their season on Friday by taking on Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. The match is set to start at 3:30 p.m.

The Patriots’ first home game is Sept. 17 against Texas College. The match is set to start at 7 p.m.
