Girls Soccer Notebook: Bullard’s Paige Barrett takes weekly honor

Bullard’s Paige Barrett has earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Girls Soccer Player of the Week honors for games played Jan. 20-25.
Barrett, a junior captain, had seven goals and an assist in wins over Chapel Hill and Van.

On Friday, Barrett scored five goals and delivered an assist as the Lady Panthers played with 11 players and no subs in an 8-0 victory over Van.
“She has played a pivotal role on the field in our attack, but is an even better leader for our team,” Bullard head girls soccer coach Tiffany Cooksey said. “There is no doubt we will continue to see great things from Paige for the rest of the season.”
In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches):
Chapel Hill’s Skye Figueroa had six goals in two games.
Henderson’s Hattie Howard had three goals and two assists.
In the Lethal Soccer State Rankings, Tyler Legacy is No. 29 in Class 6A; Jacksonville No. 32 in Class 5A; and Bullard No. 12, Pine Tree No. 24, Henderson No. 34 and Palestine No. 37 Class 4A.
East Texas teams ranked in the Texas Girls Coaches Association rankings are Jacksonville No. 23 in 5A; and Gladewater No. 5 and Bullard No. 16 in 4A.
