STAR POWER: Blue Team wins 4A-6A All-Star Volleyball Game

LONGVIEW — Hallsville’s Kaycin Farrell finished with 12 kills, five blocks and an ace, Whitehouse’s Ashley Rhame and Spring Hill’s Tyhia Mack combined for 39 assists and the Blue Team defeated the Red Team, 26-24, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, in the Class 4A, 5A, 6A BSN Sports East Texas All-Star Game on Sunday.

The game was played at Spring Hill’s Panther Gymnasium.

Farrell earned Most Valuable Player honors for the event.

Mack, playing on her home court, handed out 22 assists for Blue. Rhame added 17 assists and two aces, Spring Hill’s Lesley Sanchez five kills and three blocks, Spring Hill’s Abby Fisher two aces, Longview’s Jaharia Hunter eight kills and two blocks, Gilmer’sLacey Wilson seven kills, Lindale’s Alyssa Potts three kills and two blocks and Tyler Legacy’s Taylor Woods 14 kills.

For the Red team, Longview’s Triniti Jackson had 14 assists, six kills and an ace. Lindale’s Addison Ridge added eight kills, Henderson’s Addison Standley seven kills and three blocks, Bullard’s Kalia Andres five kills, Kilgore’s Maleah Thurmond two kills, Whitehouse’s Triniti Purvis six kills and four blocks, Whitehouse’s Kate Flanagan two aces, Henderson’s Kate Charlo two kills and Carthage’s Addison Rowe 15 assists and five kills.



The Blue team trailed 21-12 before Red’s Jackson backset Ride for a kill that sparked a comeback. A Purvis kill put Red in front 24-23, but Blue scored the final three points on a set from Rhame to Wilson for a tying slam, a block from Farrell that went to Mack for an assist to Wilson for another kill and then a hammer shot from Farrell off a dish from Mack to give Blue a 26-24 win.

The second set was close until back-to-back blocks by Sanchez put Blue on top 15-12. Mack then set up Farrell for a kill anda 16-12 lead, and Rhame later set Woods up for a crosscourt kill that made it 20-13. Mack later fired off an ace to end it at 25-16.

Red stayed alive with a third-set win as Flanagan had two aces, Rowe four assists, Ridge a couple of kills and Purvis three kills and two blocks. The score was tied at 20-20 following a Rowe dish to Purvis for a kill, and back-to-back unforced errors by Blue gave Red a 22-20 lead.

Jackson pushed one deep for a kill to end the set at 25-23 and keep the Red team alive for another set.

The final set featured ties at 5, 8 and 10, but Hunter had a block and back-to-back kills for Blue to put them in front to stay. The Blue lead was 20-15 before kills from Woods and Hunter, and Blue finished off the win with a block by Woods to make it 25-17.
