Tyler Legacy hosting District 10-6A Tennis Tournament

Tyler Legacy will host the District 10-6A Tennis Tournament on Thursday and Friday.

Matches will begin at 9 a.m. each day at Tyler Legacy High School.

The Red Raiders received the No. 1 and No. 2 seed in all draws except girls singles, where they have the No. 2 and No. 6 seeds.

Legacy’s Brooklyn Meadows will face Mesquite Yubel Resendiz in the first round of the 16-person girls singles bracket. Legacy’s Sapphire Nunn, who is the No. 2 seed, receives a first-round bye and will face either North Forney’s Taliah Isidor or Royse City’s Miriam Diaz in the second round.

Legacy’s girls doubles teams of Audrey Deatherage/Sophie Miller and Savannah Allen/Adelyn Briggs are the top two seeds in the 16-team girls doubles bracket and both will receive a first-round bye. Deatherage/Miller will face the winner of Rockwall-Heath’s Reeves/Seifert and Mesquite Horn’s Hernandez/Ramirez in the second round, and Allen/Briggs will face the winner of Horn’s Hasic/Vazquez and Royse City’s Maddie Stephenson/Kirsten Simmons.



Deatherage and Miller are 46-3 this season. The losses came to Allen, Houston Memorial and Round Rock Westwood with two wins over The Woodlands. Allen features Chelsie Son, who went to state in girls singles last year. Houston Memorial’s team is the reigning Class 6A girls doubles champion, defeating Round Rock Westwood’s team in the 2023 Class 6A final.

Legacy’s mixed doubles teams of Sara Fry/Owen Brandt and Adrian Villapudua/Bridget Gaston Fry/Brandt will face the winner of Royse City’s CJ Teal/Lili Mendez and Horn’s Montelongo/Luna. Villapudua/Gaston will face the winner of North Forney’s Peter Rosenberg/Nia Noriega and Mesquite’s Emiliano Sanchez/Emily Castillo. are the top two seeds in the 16-team mixed doubles bracket and both will receive a first-round bye.

Legacy’s Nathan Kiblinger and Jeremiah Beaulier are the top two seeds in the 16-person boys singles bracket and both will receive a first-round bye. Kiblinger, who is 28-8 against some of the top competition in the state, will face the winner of North Forney’s Matthew Whitmill and Amari Cleaver. Beaulieu will face the winner of Horn’s Joshua Hernandez and Royse City’s Timothy Wallace.

Legacy’s boys doubles teams of Michael Collins/Michael Rowan and Gabriel Oxler/Braylen Mosley are the top two seeds in the 16-team boys doubles bracket and both will receive a first-round bye. Collins/Rowan will face the winner of North Forney’s Carter Kennedy/Anthony Morris and Mesquite’s Dylan Lee/Abraham Maldonado. Oxler/Mosley will face the winner of Royse City’s Jude Wilson/Caleb Alfred and Mesquite’s Simmons/Leal.
