No fans allowed at Jacksonville at Palestine basketball games on Tuesday

- Jacksonville will play at Palestine on Tuesday. No fans will be allowed to attend.

PALESTINE — Palestine ISD announced that no spectators will be allowed at the basketball game between Palestine and Jacksonville.

Palestine ISD said the decision was made due to the incident involving spectators at last year’s game. The game was postponed on Tuesday.
Fans can watch the JV girls, varsity girls and varsity boys for free on the Wildcat Nation Media Network on YouTube.
The JV Boys game will also be available to watch via Live Stream on the Palestine ISD Facebook page.
Palestine and Jacksonville boys both opened District 18-4A play with wins on Friday. Palestine defeated Rusk 69-53, and Jacksonville took a 62-60 win over Bullard. Also, Hudson defeated Madisonville, 50-43.
Other district games that were scheduled for Tuesday, Bullard visits Madisonville and Hudson plays at Rusk.
The Jacksonville girls (20-8) are in first place in the district at 3-0 after Friday’s 40-28 win over Bullard at Jacksonville’s John Alexander Gymnasium.

The Maidens are tied with Madisonville for first place, followed by Bullard (2-1), Palestine (1-2), Hudson (0-3) and Rusk (0-3).
Fans were also not allowed at a matchup between Tyler High and Texas High Feb. 7, 2023, in Tyler. That was after there was a game-ending brawl in the first quarter between the teams on Jan. 13, 2023, in Texarkana.
