Boys Basketball Roundup: Chapel Hill scores win over Spring Hill

LONGVIEW — Four Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by double doubles from Isiah Mayfield and Cameron Kelley, as Chapel Hill defeated Spring Hill, 67-43, on Friday in a District 17-4A basketball game.
Leading the Bulldogs were Jorden Ford (17 points, 5 3-pointers), Mayfield (13), Kelley (11) and Dee Brisbon (10).

Kelley added 13 rebounds and Mayfield grabbed 10 boards.
Also scoring for Chapel Hill were Jayvin Mayfield (7 points, 1 3-pointer), Jordyn Bradshaw (5 points, 4 blocks), Da’Marcion Blaylock (2 points) and Malik Gee (2 points).
The Bulldogs (16-4, 2-0) return to play on Tuesday, hosting Gilmer in New Chapel Hill. Spring Hill (9-10, 1-1) is slated to visit Gilmer on Jan. 12.
Dallas Covenant 55, All Saints 46
Caz Franks scored 19 points but the All Saints Trojans could not overcome Dallas Covenant, falling to the Knights 55-46 on Friday in a TAPPS 4A District 2 basketball game at Brookshire Gym.
Others scoring for the Trojans were Jackson Hill (11), Emerson Hadnot (8), Sachit Basoor (4), Manny Mizer (2) and Mason Patrick (2).

Hill hit three 3-pointers and Franks added one.
Brady Shahan led the Knights with 13 points and Josh Hook hit for 10 points.
Dallas Covenant improves to 14-4 and 1-0 in district. The Trojans are 9-11 and 0-1.
All Saints is schedule to visit Dallas Christian on Tuesday.
Brook Hill 60, Dallas Shelton 38
DALLAS — Beck Langemeier hit for 34 points to help lead the Brook Hill Guard to a 60-38 win over Dallas Shelton on Friday in a TAPPS 4A District 2 basketball game at American Airlines Center.
Brook Hill improves to 14-6 overall and 1-0 in district, while the Chargers fall to 10-9 and 0-1.
Langemeier hit five 3-pointers with Atticus Rhoads hitting one.
Others scoring for the Guard were Lex Rich (14), Luke McNeel (6), Rhoads (3) and Kojo Kwabia (3).
Andrew Zuch led Dallas Shelton with 18 points. He had three 3-pointers.
Brook Hill plays host to Carrollton Prince of Peace at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Herrington Gym in Bullard.
Bullard 72, Sulphur Springs 59
BULLARD — Junior guard Tyler Lamberth scored 28 points to spark the Bullard Panthers to a 72-59 win over Sulphur Springs in a non-district basketball game.
The Panthers go to 14-8 on the season. The Wildcats drop to 8-15.
Lamberth hit two 3-pointers.
Others scoring for Bullard were Layne Alexander (14), Clifford Douglas Jr. (8), Cason Craig (6), Colby Hanna (4), Hendrix Smith (4), Quasy Warren (4), Caden Cummings (2), Crew Bowman (1) and Campbell Pawlak (1).
Bullard is scheduled to visit Jacksonville at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Sulphur Springs visits Paris at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Longview 78, Whitehouse 31
LONGVIEW — The Longview Lobos scored a 78-31 win over the Whitehouse Wildcats on Friday in a District 15-5A basketball game at Lobo Coliseum.
The Lobos improve to 2-2 on the season and 3-0 in district, while the Wildcats fall to 5-12 and 1-2.
Chris Wilder led Longview with 27 points, followed by Robert Blandburg (12), Chris Head (11) and Kendric Brown (10).
Caedmon Humphrey led Whitehouse, which was coming off a 38-36 win over Texas High, with 11 points
Longview travels to Texarkana on Tuesday to play Texas High. Whitehouse plays host to Tyler on Tuesday at C.L. Nix “Wildcat” Arena.
Hallsville 64, Pine Tree 47
HALLSVILLE — Kobe Gaut tossed in 18 points, Anthon McDermott was right behind him with 17 and the Hallsville Bobcats notched a 64-47 District 15-5A win over the Pine Tree Pirates on Friday.
LV Williams had 14 points and David Baliraine six for Hallsville, which outscored the Pirates 15-4 in the second quarter to lead 31-17 at halftime.
Canton 58, Cumberland 45
Canton Eagles moved to 2-0 in District 16-5A with a 58-45 win over the Cumberland Knights on Friday at The Castle in Tyler.
Kanden Smith led the Eagles (11-11) with 23 points. He was followed by Jaden Pickerill (14), Cason Bell (9), Nathan Whitlock (8) and Tre Taylor (2).
Smith had four 3-pointers.
R.J. McKenzie and Jeremiah Whitmore each led the Knights (3-14, 0-3) with 12 points each. Other Cumberland scorers were Byron Gibson (8), Wilson Bedford (6), Cedrick Granberry (4) and Timo Simmons (3).
Canton plays host to Brownsboro on Tuesday. Cumberland visits Brownsboro on Jan. 12.
Athens 51, Brownsboro 43
BROWNSBORO — In a tight contest, Athens pulled away from Brownsboro in the second half to score a 51-43 win in a District 16-4A basketball game.
Gekyle Baker led the Bears with 18 points and Keaton Delaney added 17.
Also scoring for Brownsboro were Dylan Downey (5), Isaiah Dawson (2) and Jacob Fulgham (1).
Delaney hit three 3-pointers.
Ja’marion Williams led the Hornets with 18 points and Jorien Ray added 16 points. Also scoring for Athens were Julious Brewer (6), Cody Carter (3), AJ White (2), Emanuel Moore (2), Jansen Harris (2) and Jase Warren (2).
Brewer had two 3-pointers and Carter added one.
Athens won the JV (48-42) and frosh (35-31) games.
Brownsboro (11-12, 0-3) visits Canton on Tuesday, while Athens (10-13, 2-1) hosts Van the same night.
Troup 49, Elysian Fields 37
ELYSIAN FIELDS — Trae Davis scored 16 points and Carson Davenport added 11 points as the Troup Tigers defeated the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets 49-37 on Friday in a District 16-3A basketball game.
Troup goes to 18-4 on the season and 1-1 in district, while EF falls to 8-6 and 0-3.
Others scoring for the Tigers were Carter Graves (6), Hudson Harrell (6), Jarett Castillo (5), Caden Graves (4) and Tre Anderson (1).
Davenport hit three 3-pointers with two each by Davis and Carter Graves.
Drayon Rather led Elysian Fields with 13 points, followed by Nunu Kennedy (11), Travis Stephens (10) and Brody Parker (3).
Troup is scheduled to play host to Waskom on Tuesday. JV starts at 5 p.m., followed by the girls (6:15) and boys (7:45 p.m.).
Jefferson 64, West Rusk 36
JEFFERSON — The Jefferson Bulldogs jumped out to a 35-11 lead at halftime on the way to a 64-36 win over the West Rusk Raiders in District 16-3A action.
Tazion Frazier had 13 points and Travis Gray added 12 for Jefferson (16-4, 3-0). Luke Elder and Cornell Nunn finished with nine apiece, Jermaine Hopkins seven, Dak Justice six, Jakyrie Johnson five and Davonte Marshall three.
Tyler HEAT 69, White Oak 32
WHITE OAK — Tyler HEAT pulled away after a close first quarter, outscoring the White Oak Roughnecks 55-20 in the final three frames on the way to a 69-32 non-district win.
Waker Hartman led the HEAT with 23 points, followed by Jackson Tomlin (18), John Hall (15), Coen Starr (8), Jet Bell (3) and Eli Anderson (2).
Tomlin had four 3-pointers with one each from Hartman and Bell.
Tyler HEAT (22-5) returns to play on Tuesday, traveling to Longview to meet East Texas Home School.
Scotty Breitenberg led the way for White Oak with 13 points. Henry Lattin added 10, Kanaan Moore six, Campbell Sutton five and Kaleb Sorgee, Gavin Sipes and Jacob Sorgee two apiece.
McLeod 67, Ore City 25
McLEOD — The McLeod Longhorns notched a 67-25 District 21-2A win over the Ore City Rebels on Friday.
Grayson Owens had 22 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals to pace McLeod. Jaxon Smith finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals, Austin McGray 13 points, four rebounds and two steals, Kannon Dempsey and Colton Spence six points apiece, Clay Hartsell and Kason Cook two apiece and Jase Deaton one. Dempsey also had 10 rebounds and three steals, Spence four rebounds and Hartsell two rebounds and four steals.
Maverick Main had 14, Blake Coppedge seven and Kyler Rowe four in the loss for Ore City.
Douglass 61, Alto 42
ALTO — The Douglass Indians jumped out to an early lead en route to a 61-42 win over the Alto Yellowjackets on Friday in a District 22-2A basketball game on Devonte Mumphrey Memorial Court.
Keegan Davis led Alto with 13 points while Tim Bond and JJ Rollins added 10 points each.
On Tuesday, the Yellowjackets fell to Overton, 54-46, in Overton.
Davis led with 13 points, followed by Elijah Lacy (12) and Bond (10).
Alto (14-7, 1-2) next plays on Jan. 12 at Mount Enterprise.
