Whitehouse’s Madeline Wright

With spring sports being canceled, the Tyler Morning Telegraph wants to profile East Texas seniors in those sports in a feature called “From the Sidelines”. If you’re an East Texas senior who competes in a spring sport and would like to be featured, fill out the following questionnaire and send it to sports@tylerpaper.com, along with a photo. Today’s featured female athlete is Whitehouse’s Madeline Wright.

Name: Madeline Wright

School: Whitehouse High School

Parents names: Theresa and David Wright

Brothers/sisters: Twin sister Mackenzie Wright (also on the softball team)

Sports you play: Softball

Favorite high school sports memory: It was my sophomore year and we were going to a tournament and our bus caught on fire.

Plans after high school: I am playing softball at Navarro College, and I am doing general studies.

Favorite food: Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken

Favorite TV show: The Office

Favorite movie: Breakthrough

Who are your role models? My sister Allie and my parents

What coaches have had the most influence on you? Why? My select coach Anthony Springer. He’s always pushed me and he does anything to make you succeed. Anytime I need some extra work in or need something fixed he is always there to help. Also my old coach, Coach Barbosa. He taught me how to slap after my freshman year and he never gave up on me. He has always told me to be the toughest out and I think about that saying all the time. I feel like without these coaches I would not be the player I am today.

Who is your favorite teacher? My dual credit English teacher Mr. Scott

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Probably at a high school coaching softball.

What will you miss most about high school sports? Definitely playing with my best friends. I hope I get to take the field with them soon. I don’t want our season to end so soon.
