So many of the traditions we celebrate at Christmas are passed down from generation to generation. There are countless Christmas carols, stories and decorations that have passed the test of time and will be celebrated by families for years to come.

As a dealer for fine china and jewelry, Charles Dickens Jewelry, 100 West Oak in Palestine, has been helping people celebrate time-honored traditions and providing family treasures since 1984.

It’s no coincidence that Mr. Dickens is named Charles, and he and his wife, Linda love spreading Christmas cheer throughout the holiday season.

Anyone who walks through the door is greeted with a big smile from Mrs. Dickens and a hearty, “Ho, Ho, Ho!”

Her Christmas spirit is infectious.

“I just love Santas and have collected them for years,” Mrs. Dickens said. “I think it was the Santa Claus on the top of the Christmas tree on the Spode dinnerware that got me started.”

Mrs. Dickens has been offering the Spode china and its popular patterns for many years. This year the Spode Christmas Tree pattern is celebrating 75 years.

Spode china was created in the early 1800’s in London.

Since 1938, Spode has been updating the Christmas Tree pattern to include new pieces each year. This year they’ve released some limited edition 75th anniversary pieces.

The anniversary pieces include an ornate gold band around the traditional Spode Christmas tree. The gold collection includes place-setting pieces, mugs, a teapot, sugar bowl and creamer and a commemorative ornament.

They have also added several new service pieces that can be added to the traditional Spode Christmas Tree that has always been adorned with a green band around the piece of china.

“It’s just such a great thing to add to each year and pass down through the family,” Mrs. Dickens said. “It really makes the holidays special.”

Spode is also popular for their Blue Italian and Woodlands pattern which Dickens Jewelry also sells.

“This time of year it’s all about Christmas Tree, but otherwise Woodlands is the most popular choice,” Mrs. Dickens said.
