Breckenridge Village of Tyler to put on Ladies’ Luncheon

Breckenridge Village of Tyler’s 11th Annual Ladies’ Spring Luncheon is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday at KE Bushman’s Celebration Center in Bullard.

The luncheon will benefit the Breckenridge Village residents and day program participants. The village is a faith-based community for adults with developmental disabilities.

The luncheon theme is “Wrap Your Heart Around It.” Grammy-nominated artist, motivational entertainer and author LynnMarie Rink is scheduled to serve as keynote speaker. Mrs. Rink’s son, James, has Down’s syndrome.

Mrs. Rink shares the trials, tribulations and victories of her life as a working mother and caregiver to her son in her recently published memoir, “Wrap Your Heart Around It: A Memoir About Learning to Love the Life You Have.” She also plans to share her special brand of modern-day polka music.

“LynnMarie brings a unique perspective as the parent of a child with developmental disabilities,” said Linda Taylor, Breckenridge Village’s associate executive director of advancement. “She lives and breathes our mission here at BVT, and I know our guests will be moved by her heartwarming, encouraging message.” 

The luncheon will feature a silent auction showcasing some handcrafted items donated by local businesses and friends of Breckenridge Village.

More than 400 people are expected to attend the event. Female residents of the village will attend as the guests of honor, according to a news release.
