In a packed stadium, a sea of supporters watched 406 Tyler High School seniors graduate Friday night at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

Principal Claude Lane welcomed the students and their friends and families to the graduation, followed by an invocation by student council secretary, Maliyah Jones. Board president Wade Washmon congratulated the students on the day and announced to the crowd that the graduates were eligible to receive their diplomas.

Salutatorian A’Niyah Hartsfield encouraged her graduating peers to make their mark as they get ready to leave high school.

“Let’s close this chapter with gratitude and excitement for the adventures ahead, carrying with us the lessons learned,” she said. “Let us strive for excellence, pursue our passions and seek to make positive impacts in our community, turning challenges into stories of triumph that propel towards our future.”

Valedictorian Tyson Wilson, II reminded his classmates that they are in charge of their destiny and to always move forward.

“We’re all unique and that everybody’s journey is paced differently,” he said. “While some may achieve success swiftly, others may face detours and setbacks. Yet, remember that failure is not the end but a stepping stone to growth. Learn from your mistakes, draw strength from adversity, and let each challenge propel you forward, armed with newfound wisdom.”

After 406 graduates received their diplomas, they turned their tassels and led the crowd in singing the Tyler High School Alma Mater, followed by the Tyler High Fight Song.
