East Texans will feel the chill this Thanksgiving as cooler temperatures and gusty winds roll in.
“Wednesday, we’re experiencing warmer temperatures,” said Savannah Hale, CBS19 weekend weather forecaster. “We’re having a cold front move through overnight. We’re going to wake up on Thursday with much cooler temperatures.”

By 7 to 8 a.m. Thursday, temperatures will be in the upper 40s, with overcast skies. The sun may peek through in the afternoon, but temperatures will only climb to the mid-50s.
This cold front is dry, meaning it won’t bring the usual storms typically associated with cold fronts, and no severe weather is expected. Winds will shift from the northwest, bringing cooler air as the front moves through later this afternoon and evening. Gusts could reach 30 mph, making for a breezy day.
Overnight, temperatures will drop into the mid-40s, and winds will shift from the north, keeping the chill in place. Expect gusty winds to persist on Thanksgiving morning, adding to the cold.
“Any time with the family is great, but I would definitely maybe spend the time indoors or if you are planning on spending some time outdoors, grabbing a jacket or a coat. You’ll want to bundle up a little bit, especially in the morning,” Hale said.
This cool-down is expected to last. After a week of fluctuating temperatures, the cold front will bring a more sustained chill, with highs staying in the 50s and low 60s for the next seven to 10 days.
“We’re plateauing, and it’ll be a while before we get back into the warmer weather,” Hale said.
