Tyler Legacy advances in 6A playoffs

Tyler Legacy moved on to the third round of the Class 6A team tennis playoffs with a 10-1 win over Mansfield Lake Ridge on Thursday in Ennis.

In boys singles, Daniel Gaston defeated Brendan Lee Woo 6-2, 6-2. Dylan Brown defeated Alex Ngyyen 6-3, 6-2. Michael Collins defeated Aiden Pham 6-1, 6-2. Preston Rathbun defeated Devin Simmons 6-1, 6-4.

Brown and Rathbun both won at the same time, but the Red Raiders just needed one of the victories to reach the 10-point victory threshold.

In girls singles, Sophie Miller defeated Lindsey Broz 6-2, 6-0.

In boys doubles, Gaston and Brown defeated Adames/Hinojosa 6-2, 6-4. Natahn Kiblinger and Collins defeated Lee Woo/Tran 6-0, 6-2. Rathbun and Michael Rowan defeated Simmons/Pham 6-2, 6-2.



In girls doubles, Audrey Deatherage and Miller defeated Flake/Campbell 6-1, 6-1. Bridget Gaston and Kaylie Cunio defeated Shen/Salfaorayai 6-3, 6-3. Emma Faulks and Savannah Allen defeated Broz/Cook 6-3, 6-3.

Legacy advances to face Wylie at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Sulphur Springs.
