Orthopedics

Dr. Corey Bindner has joined the UT Health East Texas Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institute.

“Communication is the cornerstone of a successful patient-physician relationship. I believe in involving my patients in their care by clearly discussing their diagnoses and treatment options,” Bindner said. “This collaborative approach ensures that we manage even the most challenging medical issues with treatments that align with their values. No matter how difficult the situation, I am unwavering in my advocacy, ensuring my patients feel supported and confident throughout their care.”

Bindner said his journey into healthcare was driven by a love for science and a passion for teaching. As a specialist in orthopedic trauma and fracture care, he treats fractures involving the arms, legs or pelvis.

“These areas allow me to make a real and immediate impact on my patients’ lives,” he said. “By guiding them through their recovery process, I help them regain their quality of life after traumatic injuries.”

Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner

Justin Crutchfield, APRN, AGACNP-BC, has joined the UT Health East Texas Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institute in Tyler.

“Being a healthcare provider is both a unique responsibility and a privilege that allows me to serve the community,” Crutchfield said. “I take pride in continuously expanding my knowledge to offer comprehensive, evidence-based care to my patients.”

Crutchfield’s healthcare journey began in high school when he worked as a certified nursing assistant in a nursing home and skilled nursing facility. He said that experience sparked his passion for helping others, particularly in rural communities where healthcare providers often are limited. After graduating from Texas Tech University’s Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program, he spent nearly three years in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he worked closely with the trauma department and developed a strong interest in the operating room, focusing on orthopedics and neurosurgery.

“My diverse medical experience spans intensive care, emergent procedures and now assisting in the operating room,” Crutchfield said. “Helping patients regain their independence and functionality is exceptionally gratifying and drives my dedication to this field.”
