15-year-old arrested after allegedly making threat to New Summerfield ISD campus

CHEROKEE COUNTY — Law enforcement quickly intervened after New Summerfield ISD received information about a possible threat to one of its campuses on Tuesday.
Authorities were notified immediately, leading to the quick arrest of a 15-year-old boy within Jacksonville city limits, Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson said in a news release.

The teenager, who is not a student of New Summerfield ISD, was charged with making a terroristic threat, which is a third-degree felony. He was transported to a juvenile detention facility.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for the prompt response from multiple agencies, including the New Summerfield ISD, New Summerfield Police Department, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Highway Patrol, Alto Police Department, Jacksonville Police Department, Jacksonville Fire Department, and Cherokee County constables.
