2 charged with child trafficking in Tyler

A Tyler man and woman were arrested Thursday on child trafficking accusations following a joint investigation.

James Emmitt Dews III and Hannah Nicole Moore were apprehended by the Tyler Police Department and the Texas Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Unit, North Texas Human Trafficking Task Force. Arrest warrants were issued by Smith County Judge Taylor Heaton of the 475th Judicial District Court.

Both Dews and Moore have been booked into the Smith County Jail and are being held on $750,000 bonds each. The charge is a first-degree felony.

The nonprofit organization For the Silent, which works to protect children and teens from sexual exploitation and sex trafficking, along with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County, provided resources and assistance during the investigation.



The case remains under investigation and will be forwarded to the Smith County District Attorney’s Office.
