Woman dies after being struck by car at Tyler bus stop

A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle while waiting at a Tyler bus stop.

Sandra Abrego, 43, of Tyler, has died after succumbing to her injuries at a Tyler hospital. She was waiting on the 4500 block of South Broadway Avenue for the bus when a car stuck her around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Tyler Police Department.

The vehicle, traveling northbound on Broadway, veered off the road and hit the bus stop where Abrego was waiting. She was transported to UT Health by EMS, and police said Wednesday morning that she had died due to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Abrego remained on scene.

The investigation is ongoing. Abrego’s family has been notified.
