Lindale falls to Canyon Randall in 4A semifinals

Lindale is heading to the team tennis state tournament. Lindale dropped its Class 4A state semifinal match 11-1 to Canyon Randall at the UIL Team Tennis State Tournament on Wednesday morning at Texas A&M University’s Omar Smith Intramural Tennis Center in College Station.

The boys doubles team of Sylas Dutton and Ian Wishart picked up the lone win for the Eagles over Sawyer Eason and Dax Betzen 7-5, 6-2.

Other boys doubles results were Carson Dyess/Bryson Shelton (Canyon Randall) def. Emilio Rodriguez/Hayden Harry (Lindale) 6-1, 5-7, (10); and Aidan Gilbert/David Monroe (Canyon Randall) def. Soren Peterson/Jason Stewart (Lindale) 6-0, 6-4.

Girls doubles results were Ella Hester/Gabriella Dishong (Canyon Randall) def. Taegan Michel/Breanna Taylor (Lindale) 6-3, 4-6, (10); Kaitlyn Craddock/Elizabeth Hollabaugh (Canyon Randall) def. Bailee Lane/Reeci Morgan (Lindale) 4-6, 6-4, (10); and Kynley Craddock/Landrey Posey (Canyon Randall) def. Zoe Bozick/Bailey Thorn (Lindale) 6-3, 6-1.

In mixed doubles, Randall’s Scotlynn Hendricks and Elijah Rodriguez defeated Lindale’s Ryan Darden and Nicole Hines 6-1, 6-2.



In boys singles, David Monroe (Randall) def. Soren Peterson (Lindale) 1-6, 6-1 (10); Bryson Shelton (Randall) def. Sylas Dutton (Lindale) 6-0, 6-0); and Dax Betzen (Randall) def. Ryan Darden (Lindale) 6-0, 6-2. In girls singles, Kynley Craddock (Randall) def. Reeci Morgan (Lindale) 6-2, 6-1; and Landrey Posey (Randall) def. Nicole Hines (Lindale) 6-0, 6-1.

Lindale ends the season with a record of 14-6. Canyon Randall (34-0) moves on to take on Boerne (20-2), which took an 11-3 win over Little River Academy on Thursday. The 4A championship match is at 8 a.m. Thursday at Texas A&M’s George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
