Volleyball Notebook: Brownsboro’s Rilee Rinehart takes weekly honor.

Canton's Georgia Crayton picked up her 1,000th assist, and Maddie Wilson got her 1,000th dig.

Brownsboro’s Rilee Rinehart has earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Volleyball Player of the Week honors for matches played Sept. 26-30.

Rinehart had 68 assists and 28 digs as Brownsboro fell in five sets to No. 8 Canton and then swept Cumberland Academy.

Rinehart recently surpassed 1,500 career assists for Brownsboro (19-7, 4-2).

In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches):

Brownsboro’s Khayla Garrett had 30 kills, four blocks and 21 digs in two matches. Khrya Garrett had 21 kills and 27 digs.



Tyler Legacy’s Lexie Correa had 22 assists and eight aces as the Lady Raiders split matches with Mesquite and Royse City. Shelby Huntsberger had six kills, 11 digs and two aces against Royse City, and Ahava Young had 11 kills and two aces against Mesquite.

Canton outside hitter Airianna Pickens had 30 kills, a .250 hitting percentage, eight blocks and 11 digs for the Eaglettes (24-7, 6-0). Outside hitter Payton Bray had 30 kills, a .157 hitting percentage, six blocks and seven digs. Libero Maddie Wilson had 60 digs, five assists, one kill and one ace. Wilson recently recorded her 1,000th dig, and teammate Georgia Crayton got her 1,000th assist.

Whitehouse junior Kyla Wedell had a team-high 18 kills and hit .239 in wins over Mount Pleasant and Tyler. Senior libero Gabie Patterson had 33 digs and seven assists.

Troup junior middle blocker Bailey Blanton had 31 kills, four aces, 12 digs, five blocks and 40 points in wins over West Rusk and Waskom for the Lady Tigers (22-11, 5-1). Junior middle blocker Chloie Haugeberg had 23 kills, six aces, nine digs and 30 points. Senior setter Tara Wells had 68 assists, six aces, six digs and two kills.

Rusk’s Jazz Blankinship had 20 kills, 16 blocks, three assists and one dig as the Lady Eagles (17-15, 1-2) split matches with Bullard and Hudson. Blankinship has 135 blocks, 206 kills, 82 digs and 40 assists this season, missing six matches with an injury.

Beckville’s Sophie Elliot had 51 assists, 15 digs, four kills and four aces in wins over Overton and Hawkins. Avery Morris had 26 kills, 19 digs and three aces. Amber Harris had 20 kills, five blocks, 26 digs and six aces.

Multiple East Texas teams earned a spot in the Texas Girls Coaches Association state rankings.

In Class 5A, Hallsville (28-5) is No. 9. In Class 4A, Canton (24-7) is No. 8, Spring Hill (23-7) and No. 13, Bullard (26-8). In Class 3A, White Oak (30-7) is No. 8, Tatum (31-6) is No. 9, Mount Vernon (19-2) No. 12, Central Heights (28-8) No. 17 and Edgewood (23-8) No. 19. In Class 2A, Beckville (24-10) is No. 7 and Carlisle (18-9) No. 25. In Class 1A, Neches (21-8) is No. 6.
