Volleyball Notebook: Rusk’s Sarah Boudreaux takes first weekly honor

Rusk junior Sarah Boudreaux had a big week to lead the Lady Eagles to the consolation title in the Silver Bracket of the Tyler ISD Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
Boudreaux’s performance has earned her Tyler Morning Telegraph Volleyball Player of the Week for the opening week of the season.

Boudreaux helped the Lady Eagles to a 6-4 record last week. The outside hitter and setter had 124 kills, 110 assists, 67 digs, 12 blocks and three aces.
In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches):
Whitehouse sophomore setter Ashley Rhame had 32 aces in nine matches for the Ladycats. Whitehouse went 4-5, taking on Gilmer and then competing in the Mansfield ISD Methodist Medical Center Volleyball Invitational. Rhame also had 80 assists and 52 digs.
Whitehouse senior hitter Megan Cooley had 60 kills, 54 digs, five blocks and hit .230.
Whitehouse sophomore middle blocker Kassidy Meyer had 32 kills, 10 blocks and hit .368.
All Saints’ Kennedy Wood had 41 kills, seven aces and 15 digs. She helped the Lady Trojans to a 5-1 record.

All Saints’ Olivia Goedeke had 20 aces, 18 kills and 25 digs.
Canton’s Airianna Pickens had 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage against Neches.
Canton’s Allison Rickman had seven kills and a .230 hitting percentage against Caddo Mills.
Canton’s Maddie Wilson had 15 digs and 15 serve receive passes against Caddo Mills.
Mineola senior middle blocker and sett Mylee Fischer had 42 kills, 25 solo blocks, 80 assists and 50 digs as Mineola went 4-5.
Mineola senior defensive specialist Shylah Kratzmeyer had 71 digs, five aces and a 90 percent passing percentage.

Multiple East Texas teams earned a spot in the Texas Girls Coaches Association state rankings.
In Class 4A, Brownsboro (5-1) is No. 14, and Pleasant Grove (7-2) No. 20. In Class 3A, White Oak (9-0) is No. 3, Prairiland (7-1) No. 8, Mount Vernon (4-0) No. 11 and Harmony (5-0) No. 15. In Class 2A, Jewett Leon (7-1) is No. 2, Beckville (6-3) No. 5, Cross Roads (6-1) No. 10, Carlisle (3-1) No. 15 and Overton (3-1) No. 16. In Class 1A, Leverett’s Chapel (2-0) is No. 10 and Neches (4-4) No 19.
