Worship service set for 6 p.m. Saturday under Beckham Avenue

Hayes McCardell said he will lead a public worship service beginning 6 p.m. Saturday at 301 W. Valentine St.

The worship under the Beckham Avenue overpass will be open to all. Those who participate are asked to bring lawn chairs.

“Enjoy singing the old traditional hymns and Southern gospel songs and fellowship and rejoice with Jesus Christ in your Hearts,” McCardell said.

McCardell, who is affiliated with Retirement Villages Ministry, said he often spreads gospel messages at nursing care and retirement homes.

“Because of the pandemic, they have been shut down as far as (visitors) going in,” he said.

The service will be a “time to celebrate, with song and rejoicing and be refreshed in the word,” he said.

McCardell said he hopes to make the service a weekly event.
