The Tyler Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced changes in the stake presidency, which governs about 3,400 members who live in Anderson, Cherokee, Henderson, Smith, Rains and Van Zandt counties.

The new stake presidency will include three men announced on Sunday: Charles Rhodus, president; Daren Yeager, first counselor; and John Ketcher, second counselor.

The three men did not apply but rather were called by inspiration, according to a news release from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Both Rhodus and Yeager are physicians: Rhodus a podiatrist for 23 years and Yeager an OB/Gyn for 19 years. Ketcher is an optometry specialist in Tyler.

“There’s a great work for all of us to do,” Rhodus said. “I know if we fully apply the Atonement (of Jesus Christ) to our lives, we will truly have a greater capacity to love ourselves and to love each other.”

The Tyler, Texas Stake was formed in 2005 and comprises seven wards (or local congregations) and two branches (small congregations with fewer members). These wards include Athens, Bullard, Whitehouse, Palestine, Wills Point, two in Tyler, one Spanish congregation, and one congregation for young single adults in the area.
