Tyler Public Library site of Kwanzaa observances

Tyler Public Library, 201 S. College Ave., will be the site of an observance of Kwanzaa from 6-8 p.m. Thursday through Jan. 1. 

Kwanzaa traces its origin to harvest celebrations in Africa. It pays home to values represented by family, community and culture. 

The seven principals of Kwanzaa are umoja (unity), kujichagulia (self-determination), ujima (collective work and responsibility), ujamaa (cooperative economics), nia (purpose), kuumba (creativity) and imani (faith).

There is no charge to attend.
