Business Notes: UT Health East Texas sets job fairs; city hires new head librarian

UT Health East Texas has scheduled career fairs to fill vacant positions.
The career fairs are free. Those seeking jobs are encouraged to register at UTHealthEastTexas.com/jobs.

Positions are open in areas throughout the hospital and its clinics.
Fairs are set from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the following locations:
- UT Health East Texas Athens, 2000 S. Palestine, Athens;
- UT Health East Texas Henderson, 300 Wilson St., Henderson;
- And UT Health East Texas Pittsburg, 2701 Hwy. 271 North, Pittsburg.
In Tyler, a career fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Courtyard by Marriott, 7424 S. Broadway Ave.
Tyler Public Library hires librarian
Ashley Taylor has been named city librarian in Tyler. A longtime employee, her duties previously included supervising the circulation department and overseeing the library’s MakerSpace.
“The Tyler Public Library has a lot to offer,” Taylor said in a news release “We’re more than just books, though I do love a good book. We circulate games, literacy kits, have STEM programming and so much more.”

Taylor has a master’s degree in library science from the University of North Texas.
Piney Woods Endodontics
Piney Woods Endodontics, 7925 S. Broadway Ave., will hold events at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 12 to formally mark its opening.
Owned and operated by dentist Dr. Bryan C. Allgeier, Piney Woods Endodontics is now serving the East Texas area.
Representatives of Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce will join Allgeier and his staff for a ribbon cutting and open house. Lunch will be available and door prizes will be awarded.
City of Palestine wins award
The Texas Municipal League has awarded a 2018 Municipal Excellence Award to the city of Palestine for making improvements to its wastewater treatment plant.
Palestine was one of 10 cities to receive the recognition.
Mayor Steve Presley said the honor is evidence that the city staff is doing good work.
Vanessa Gardner to take part in orchestra leaders training
Vanessa Gardner, executive director of East Texas Symphony Orchestra, is one of 12 orchestra professionals participating in the League of American Orchestras’ Emerging Leaders Program.
“As an executive director for what the industry refers to as a small budget orchestra, I am really humbled to join the other participants in this program,” she said in a news release.
Gardner has a bachelor’s degree in music from Boston Conservatory and is an accomplished musician. She became the orchestra’s executive director last year.
