Kilgore declares state of emergency due to flooding

The City of Kilgore has declared a state of emergency after heavy rains led to widespread flooding.

At about 11:30 a.m. Kilgore Mayor R.E. Spradlin declared the state of emergency after an overnight storm caused the displacement of residents, with widespread flooding and prompted numerous rescue situations.

The city is requiring mandatory evacuation of homeowners and businesses that have experienced flooding or are near the flooded areas.

Another round of storms is expected early this afternoon.

Displaced residents should relocate to shelters or hotels.
