Overton ISD early release at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9. Classes canceled Thursday, March 10.

9:12 a.m. –  Massive tree down on Tanglewood and the Loop. Two cars stuck underneath but no one is injured. Loop 323 at Texas College Road is now reopened.

 

9:09 a.m. – All Gregg County road closures or roads with high water levels on 3/9/16 as of 08:30 am:

HWY 80/Lake Devernia FM 2087  FM 1650 off HWY 259 HWY 135 between FM 2207 to Crews Rd FM 3053/HWY 31 FM 349 between FM 2011 and FM 2276 McCann Rd/S Fuller Merrills Lake/W of HWY 42 Garland Rd/Estes Pkwy I-20 EB 583 Exit Ramp FM 1639/HWY 31

Do not attempt to pass through any of these areas. Turn around and find an alternate route.

 

8:45 a.m. –  Longview Austin Bank Building closing due to flooding. Reports of flooding from the golf course to Austin Bank.

 

8:39 a.m. – From Smith County Sheriff’s Office:

CR 484 in North SC is under water, high water rescue there. CR 165, off of Old Jacksonville, also under water. 

CR 2122, East of TRANE: parts of wooden bridge washing away. CR 345 near Winona & CR 217 North of Lake Tyler, are closed bc of high water

 

8:21 a.m. – From Marshall Police: Update on school/college closings or late starts due to weather:

East Texas Baptist University will delay starting until 9 a.m.

Trinity Episcopal School, Texas Early College and Panola Charter Schools will not be having classes today.

 

8:08 a.m. – Rusk Co. road conditions update:

259 N between Henderson & Kilgore

Other widespread flooding in the area

7:55 a.m. – Power outages:

Oncor now reports 6,829 customers without power in the Tyler Smith County Area

SWEPCO reports 579 customers without power in Gregg Co. areas 

 

7:51 a.m. – Report of major accident at Loop 323 and South Broadway involving 18-wheelers.

 

7:45 a.m. – JUST IN: List of flooded areas from Longview Police Department:

FM 2087 between Longview and Kilgore flooded

HWY 135 between Kilgore & Gladewater flooded

Reports that Hwy 80 at Lake Devernia flooded

Areas of Hwy 31 between Longview and Tyler with water over the roads.

7:20 a.m. – Laneville ISD has cancelled classes due to power outage. MLK and Hwy 271 shut down due to flooding. Flash Flood Warning in effect until 10.15 a.m. for Smith County.

 

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) – Strong storms are moving across East Texas this morning. Several warnings have been issued including a Tornado Warning and Flash Flood Warning. There are reports coming into our newsroom of flooded homes in the central Tyler area as well as streets and roads. 

The Tyler Street Department is in the process of putting up barricades at flooded intersections. Multiple intersections are flooded. There was a high-water rescue at Fleishel Ave. and Erwin.

Oncor is reporting over 6,000 power outages in the Tyler/Smith Co. area.
