TYLER (KYTX) – Two East Texas sisters need your help, after their parents were killed in a car accident earlier in January. It was a preventable wreck, caused by a family friend who fell asleep behind the wheel.

“It just kind of eats at you,” Kristen Pence said.

It’s a child’s worst nightmare, losing your parents. That’s what 19 year old Ivana and 21 year old Kristen Pence are going through right now. After this accident near Childress took their parent’s lives.

“It’s still pretty surreal you know. Coming home you expect to see them there in their room and they aren’t there,” Ivana said.

They say the emotional pain hurts more than the physical pain they are in.

“I guess it’s trying to accept the fact that it’s real. They went together. He promised he’d stay with her forever and he did,” Kristen said.

Right now, the girls have over 100 thousand dollars in medical bills alone. Both Kristen and her father were care-flighted to a Lubbock hospital. They’ve created this GoFundMe to help with the financial burden.

“We have our own medical bills, their medical bills, debt that’s going to be coming in,” Kristen said.

Both girls have been out of work since the accident. That’s left them with a lot of time to think about it all.

“Appreciate what you have before it’s gone, love it before the world decides to take it from you and you have to learn to love the memories,” Kristen said.

These lives could’ve been saved, if a drowsy driver didn’t get behind the wheel.

The Pence sisters are hoping to raise $14,000 to help pay off some of the medical bills. So far, they’ve only raised $1400.
