CRANDALL — Robert E. Lee powerlifters Staci McGaughy, Ryen Russeau and Marketta Timmons qualified for the girls state meet thanks to a stellar performance last weekend at the Region III Division I meet at Crandall High School.

The girls state powerlifting meet will take place March 13-15 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi.

Russeau finished third in the 181-pound division thanks to a 625-pound total. She posted a 215-pound squat, 110-pound bench press and 300-pound deadlift.

Also grabbing third and punching her ticket to the coast was McGaughy, who finished with a 585-pound total in the 198-pound division. McGaughy lifted 115 pounds on bench press, squatted 225 and had a 245-pound deadlift.

Joining her teammates in Corpus Christi is Timmons, whose sixth-place finish in the 220-pound class was good enough to notch a place at state. Timmons squatted 215 pounds, benched 125 and finished with a 285-pound deadlift for 625 total.

Narrowly missing out on state, but still posting a top 10 finish was Kortney Seaton. Seaton was seventh in the 181-pound weight class with a 410 total. She went 115 on squat, 90 on bench and 205 on deadlift.
