City officials unveiled the official logo and announced the headlining band for the 26th annual Festival on the Square event on Oct.12 in downtown Tyler at a news conference on Thursday.

Cody Canada and the Departed will headline the festival. Canada was the front man for Cross Canadian Ragweed for 15 years, according a news release from the city. When Cross Canadian Ragweed decided to part ways, Cody and his longtime band mate, Jeremy Plato, joined forces with some other musicians to form The Departed, according to the release.

“We are very pleased to bring entertainers of this caliber to one of Tyler’s best-loved musical events,” city of Tyler Main Street Department Leader Beverly Abell said. Festival on the Square is a major fundraiser for the Main Street department, which has the mission of supporting the revitalization of downtown Tyler.

Downtown Tyler Arts Coalition artist Dana Cargile created this year’s Festival logo, called “Guitar Hero.” Graphic designer Karen White produced the logo, Ms. Abell said.

“This is a great marriage of our locally produced events and wonderful works of art by local artists,” Ms. Abell said.

Festival on the Square is set for Oct. 12. Gates will open at 5 p.m., and music will continue through midnight. Tickets will be $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Links to online ticket sales and local sales locations will be on the Festival website, FestivalontheSquare. com.
