Lee scrimmage moved to Friday

Robert E. Lee’s scheduled Thursday football scrimmage against Marshall has been moved to Friday at Maverick Stadium in Marshall.

Freshman and JV will get underway at 4:30 pm. with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.

This is the second-straight year for Lee and Marshall to scimmage at Maverick Stadium.

The teams squared off last year with REL set to host it this year, but UIL rules prohibit a team that held spring practice to have an intersquad scrimmage before Friday.

Marshall did not have spring drills and the Mavericks scrimmaged Lindale last Friday, but the Red Raiders held spring practice, so the rule applies.



Lee coach Darrell Piske confirmed the change to the Tyler Morning Telegraph and ETFinalScore.com on Tuesday.

John Tyler is scheduled to meet Longview at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium on Friday and thus Lee must travel to Marshall.

Lee’s season opener will be Friday, Aug. 30 at Sulphur Springs.
