American Legion awards two Lindale graduates with scholarships

American Legion Jordan-Duncan Post 15 in Lindale awarded its annual scholarship awards to two graduates of Lindale High School at its June 9 meeting.
The competitive Educational and Community Service Scholarship is awarded to students based on four categories: character and leadership, community service, academic achievement, and a written essay. The subject for the 2025 essay was “Why I am proud to be an American.”
Jackson (Jack) Kendal Kirk graduated from Lindale High School in the top 5% of his class. He was selected for the first-place award consisting of an American Legion certificate and a Legion Scholastic Achievement medal along with a $1,200 scholarship to Stephen F. Austin State University. He attended the Post’s Monthly Business Meeting and expressed his appreciation to the Legion members. Jackson will study under SFA’s aviation program.
Kinley Grace Vent, a member of the National Honor Society at Lindale High School, was selected for the second-place award of a Legion certificate and Legion Scholastic Achievement medal as well as a $900 scholarship to Dallas Baptist University. Kinley was awarded her certificate and medal before she left for her summer job working at Sky Ranch, a church camp in Colorado.
The American Legion is the largest veteran service organization in the United States with over 1.6 million members.
