On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Grassroots America will hold a Liberty Education & Action Meeting to invite the community to honor State Rep. Matt Schaefer and thank him for his service representing House District 6 since Jan. 8, 2013.

Known as “Mr. Constitutional Carry,” Schaefer successfully championed the passage of permitless carry for firearms by legal gun owners. As a steadfast conservative in the Texas House, the group says he has supported numerous pro-life, religious liberty, gun rights, and border security bills.

The Grassroots group believes Schaefer has been instrumental in adding vocational training to public schools, aiding local healthcare facilities, and facilitating the entry of professionals, such as those in the auto and woodworking fields, into Texas classrooms to teach students. Additionally, he led reforms that simplified the process for students to learn plumbing and for plumbers to obtain their licenses, the group noted.

Due to his pro-family, pro-liberty, and pro-small business voting record, Schaefer has received strong endorsements from the Tyler-based Grassroots America – We the People Political Action Committee in his first race and every re-election campaign thereafter.

The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Convention Center, located on 5701 S. Broadway Ave. in Tyler. There is a $12 fee for a buffet dinner and opens at 5:15 p.m. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

There is no fee needed to attend, and registration and membership are not required. The group encourages dining to help support local business and jobs.
