Hawkins ISD board approves retirement of superintendent after recent DWI arrest

HAWKINS, Texas — Hawkins ISD trustees on Monday approved an agreement allowing Superintendent Susan Morton to retire.

This comes after Morton was charged with driving while intoxicated and collision involving damage to a vehicle in connection with an Aug. 23 wreck in Galveston County.

On Monday, the board met to consider Morton’s voluntary retirement, which was approved after over two hours of discussion during closed executive session.
