Arp’s Maddie Birdsong has earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Volleyball Player of the Week honors for matches played Sept. 5-10.
Birdsong had 33 kills and 17 digs in wins over Ore City and West Rusk.

In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches):
Arp’s Kyia Horton had 57 assists, five kills and 17 digs.
Grace Community’s Avery Nutt had 34 kills and seven blocks as the Lady Cougars went 2-0. Ashley Taylor had 13 kills, four aces and two blocks. Keely Bozeman had 11 kills, four aces and four blocks.
Brownsboro’s Khayla Garrett had 31 kills and 21 digs in wins over Alba-Golden and Mabank. Khyra Garrett had 30 kills and 32 digs. Rilee Rinehart had 77 assists and 22 digs.
Beckville’s Sophie Elliott had 81 assists, 22 digs, six kills and two aces in wins over Marshall and White Oak. Avery Morris had 37 kills, 23 digs and one ace. Amber Harris had 28 kills, three assists, four blocks, 36 digs and four aces.

In Class 3A, Mount Vernon (15-1) is No. 4, Tatum (26-6) No. 18, White Oak (24-7) No. 20, Rains (15-4 No. 23 and Mineola (19-7) No. 25. In Class 2A, Beckville (19-9) is No. 7 and Overton (16-10) No. 19. In Class 1A, Neches (16-7) is No. 5 and Leverett’s Chapel No. 24.
