Tyler Ducks Unlimited Banquet a chance to help conservation

Tyler Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold its annual banquet fundraiser beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Harvey Convention Center.
Tickets for the banquet begin at $20 for youth ages 7 to 17, $50 for singles and $70 for couples. Sponsor tables are available beginning at $800.
Organized in 1937, Ducks Unlimited is one of the oldest conservation organizations in North American. Historically the organization focused on nesting ground habitat, but since 1985 it has helped conserve more than 250,000 acres of wintering habitat in Texas alone.
Texas’ waterfowl habitat is important because an estimated 90% of the duck population and 75% of the snow goose population traveling the Central Flyway winter in the state.
In 2018, more than 26 percent of the $220 million raised by DU came from local events like the Tyler banquet and individual memberships. During 2018 the organization impacted more than 328,000 acres and conserved another 277,000 nationwide. Since 1980, DU has conserved nearly 6 million acres in the U.S. and 14 million acres in North America.
More than 45 guns will be available through the various auctions and raffles at the Tyler banquet including the 2019 DU gun of the year, a Benelli Super Black Eagle 3. Wildlife art and other items will also be auctioned.
