The Tyler Archery Club hosted a fundraiser shoot Saturday, raising $5,700 for the East Texas Veterans Alliance.

The East Texas Veterans Alliance is a local nonprofit charity that helps military veterans and their families readjust to civilian life by strengthening the network of community-based resources for them.

The shoots were mostly 3-D format, where 3-dimensional foam animal targets were placed at various distances in the woods. Targets had scoring rings pressed into the foam, but the rings are usually not visible, so the archer must know where to aim based on features of the target. Traditional “spot” targets were also used.

The shoot was expected to draw nearly 100 participants.
