UT Tyler sweeps Trinity Tigers in doubleheader Wednesday

Kelsie Batten tossed a no-hitter and the No. 7-ranked UT Tyler softball team blasted six home runs and scored 23 runs in sweeping a doubleheader from the Trinity Tigers on Wednesday at Suddenlink Field.

The Patriots (15-0) won 11-0 and 12-0, limiting the Tigers to two hits in the two games.



Batten improved to 9-0 on the season by winning Game 1, while Alaina Kissinger improved to 6-0 with her win in the circle in Game 2.

Trinity is 2-6.

The Patriots return to American Southwest Conference action this weekend when they host Mary Hardin-Baylor. A single game is set for 5 p.m. Friday, with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.

Saturday is Military Appreciation Day.

The baseball team will also be home, hosting Louisiana College. There will be a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.

The Patriots and Wildcats will play a single game on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
