Too many attractions for one day

You know, it’s a good thing the fair takes place over the course of 10 days and nights … because it would be impossible to fit all that fun, food and fair greatness into a single day.
Luckily, we don’t have to make the choice of what to see and when to see it, because so much of what the East Texas State Fair has to offer is on display all the time, and that’s truly a blessing!
And, as we mentioned before, there is one thing that every member of the family can agree on — and that’s the attractions. But because there so many great options to choose from, you’ve got no choice but to make multiple trips, right? Right!
This time around, you can’t afford to miss the Great American Frontier Show, acrobat and juggler Wade Henry, the Wolves of the World or the carnival and midway. That crowd encompasses everything from wild animals to spinning teacups, and all of it is affordable, accessible and right down the street.
The Great American Frontier Show is a performance detailing how the United States was built, showcasing the role of oxen, horses, the Pony Express and historic figures. There are cowboy shootouts, horse demonstrations, comedy elements, covered wagons and some truly amazing trick riding.
Wade Henry is crazy — well, probably not really, but we’re not sure what else you call someone who juggles chainsaws for fun. This guy is a strolling act par excellence. From juggling to performing on gigantic unicycle to telling jokes, this young man is an old-school performer making his way around the fairgrounds to the delight of children and adults alike.
The Wolves of the World is something you’ve got to see to believe. These beautiful, rescued wolves are raised in captivity but still display the raw power and intelligence of fiercely independent animals in the wild. However, they have been trained to perform before audiences — a feat never accomplished in a touring show before. And if you’re one of the lucky ones, you might get invited into the wolves’ habitat to watch them being fed.
Then there is the North American Midway. There’s not too much more to say about this than: “wow!” It is the largest traveling carnival and midway in North America and an awe-inspiring spectacle.
This thing is just packed with fun: There are some rides toned down for the kids and others that will take your breath away just by watching them. There are family friendly water rides and fun houses. And everywhere you turn, you’ll find one of the many games of skill and chance made for all ages and abilities. Not to mention, everything is inspected daily for safety and maintenance purposes.
There really is something for every East Texan at the fair this year, and it would be a shame for anyone to miss out.
Luckily, there are several more days for you to take advantage of these incredible attractions before they’re gone until next year. Check out the schedule online at etstatefair.com and we’ll see you soon.
