Six people charged in home invasion case in Elkhart

Six people have been arrested in connection with the home invasion at the apartment of Scott Austin in the 100 block of South Hwy 287 in Elkhart, Anderson County Chief Deputy Troy Black said Friday.

The incident occurred on Dec. 17.



Bruce Wayne Smith, 24; Jacob Ryan Thompson, 23; Gavin Jay Tenney, 23; Brandon Keith Stanaland, 22; Bryce Andrew Fillmore, 23; and Miranda Lea Steubing, 18, are charged with organized crime/burglary of a habitation.

Their respective bonds were set at $100,000. Thompson, Fillmore and Steubing posted bond. The others remained in the Anderson County Jail on Friday.

The sheriff’s office has the case under final review and plans to send to the district attorney’s office next week.
