East Texas native Ryan Lynch will bring his show truck and be available for pictures and autographs at the “Fuel the Truck with Food” food drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wal-Mart at 5050 Troup Highway in Tyler.
East Texans are asked to donate five or more canned goods for a chance to win a pair of tickets to the WinStar World Casino 350K at Texas Motor Speedway on Nov. 1. Lynch will drive the No. 39 BlankHood.com/East Texas Food Bank Chevy in his first start on the 1.5-mile at Texas Motor Speedway.
“A few years ago, I became aware of the great service that East Texas Food Bank provides to the East Texas community. I don’t think kids should have to be hungry just because their parents don’t have quite enough money to go around, or the elderly should have to worry about whether they can eat if they need to spend the money they have on medicine,” said Lynch, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver. “I can’t imagine letting anyone go hungry if we can help it, and East Texas Food Bank has been helping to feed the entire East Texas community for 25 years. I’m excited and proud to be able to recognize them by displaying their 25th anniversary logo on the hood of my race truck during the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.”
The food bank is honored, said Dennis Cullinane, executive director of the East Texas Food Bank.
“The East Texas Food Bank is honored to have our logo flying on the hood of Ryan’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series entry,” Cullinane said. “The fact that he thought first of using this opportunity to promote awareness of hunger in our communities shows that he has the generosity and kind spirit of a true champion!”
