In-person registration for Fresh 15 race begins Thursday

With over 3,000 already registered for the Fresh 15 on Saturday, participants are eager to begin preparation for the annual fitness run.
Runners are encouraged to register in person at Fresh on Thursday, March 5 from 12pm-7pm and Friday March 6 from 12pm-7pm. Online registration has recently ended.
“We are holding a dinner Friday night, which you have to purchase tickets for, at K.E. Bushman’s for our guest Scott Jurek to speak,” said Megan Raiz, Health and Wellness Coordinator for Brookshire Grocery Co. “He has run 50-mile races before.”

For participants who are unable to come to Friday night’s dinner event at K.E. Bushman’s, Fresh is also offering a $15 meal from 5-7p.m. for runners on their back patio Friday night. The pre-race menu consists a choice between Herb grilled salmon or half of a herb roasted rotisserie chicken with Yukon gold potatoes penne pasta and vegetables. Also included is a fresh croissant and a choice of sauce which is smoked tomato vinaigrette or a buttermilk tarragon cream sauce.
According to Don Martin, the spokesman for the Tyler Police Department, there will be approximately 30 police officers working the race Saturday morning. Policemen will be placed at all intersections from before and during the race.
Roads that are expected to be closed Saturday morning are Old Jacksonville Highway from Oak Hill Blvd. to Rice Road partially closed 7am – 8am, Broadway Ave. from Rice Road to Rieck Road partially closed 7:35am – 9am, and Old Jacksonville Hwy and Dueling Oaks Dr. from closed off and on 9am -10am. The public is strongly advised to take alternate routes. Roads to be avoided during the race are Old Jacksonville Hwy. to Rice Rd., Rice Rd. to Old Bullard Rd. ,Rice Rd. to Broadway Ave., Broadway Ave. to Rieck Rd., Rieck Rd. to Old Bullard Rd., Old Bullard Rd. to Old Grande Blvd., Old Grande Blvd. Grande Blvd. to Hollytree Dr., and Several streets along Hollytree Dr. inside Hollytree.
According to the Fresh 15 website, All races will start and end at Fresh by Brookshire’s. Runners can expect beautiful courses that represent great scenery and new and emerging parts of Tyler. The courses will have hills, so train accordingly. The 15K race begins at 7:30 a.m. and will end around 9:30 a.m. Race coordinators are requesting the runners still needing to pick up their packets on race day to come between 5 and 7 a.m.
