An Edgewood woman has been charged with arson in connection with a fire at The Mountain in Canton on Tuesday that killed two people.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, one of their deputies found Tessa Furrh, 38, who is suspected of causing the fire.

The deputy located Furrh’s vehicle and she was taken into custody. She was then booked into the Van Zandt County Jail for arson causing bodily injury or death on bonds of $200,000.

Canton Fire Department Chief Bud Sanford said the investigation into the fire is ongoing and being led by the Canton Police Department.

The Mountain, at 542 E. Dallas St., is a popular shopping venue located near Canton’s First Monday Trade Days.

Sanford said the structure is a total loss after the blaze.

The Mountain has caught fire multiple times, including in 2016, 2015 and 2013, according to previous reports.
