Courtesy Winston, a 2-year-old purebred male American water spaniel

Winston is a 2-year-old purebred male American water spaniel available for adoption at Pets Fur People (formerly the Humane Society of East Texas) in Tyler. These dogs were bred for hunting and have a strong prey drive, therefore he does not need to be subjected to cats or other small animals. Winston is house-trained and enjoys car rides, toys, playing tug of war and walking with his owner. Because Winston weighs 75 pounds, his size would make him best suited in a household with older children. Winston knows some basic commands. He has been neutered and is current on starting vaccinations, including rabies. This big chocolate-colored guy has been microchipped for identification purposes, and when adopted will receive 30 days of pet health insurance. For additional information, call 903-597-2471 or check the Pets Fur People website, petsfurpeople.org. Adoption hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Pets Fur People is a selective-admission, no-kill animal sanctuary. Follow it on Facebook and Twitter.
