East Texas Medical Center will offer a free KnowledgeFirst Forum on gallbladder disease with surgeon Dr. David Young of East Texas Vascular Associates at noon July 8 in the ETMC Pavilion, at 801 Clinic Drive.

"The disease often presents differently from person to person with symptoms ranging from nausea to back pain and upper abdominal pain to yellowing of the skin," Young said. "Around 20 percent of the population has gallstones and 5 to 10 percent of those will need surgery."

Young will discuss the disease and the latest advancements in treatment, including da Vinci single-site surgery.

Lunch will be served and free parking is available next to the ETMC Pavilion. The gate and building will open at 11:15 a.m. To preregister, call 866-333-ETMC and press 6.
