Music is in Jacob Boothe’s soul. While the Hallsville High school senior can’t hear the sound of the low-frequency drum sounds that he plays in the band, he can feel the vibrations.

“I can feel the beats on my drum, and it’s pretty easy to play,” Jacob said. “It’s fun, and I like marching.”

Jacob lost his hearing as a baby after contracting meningitis. He began playing drums in the band in the eighth grade, and said his favorite part of the Friday Night Lights is going to the sidelines during the third quarter while the drum line plays for the crowd.
