QB High leads Jacksonville past Hallsville 28-13

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Indians notched a 2813 win over Hallsville on Friday at the Tomato Bowl.

The Tribe improved to 21 while dropping the Bobcats to 03.



Jacksonville never trailed in the game and led by as many as 18 points late in the third period.

Tribe quarterback Cameron High beat the Bobcats with his arm and with his feet. He threw two touchdown passes and rushed for another in the Tribe victory.

High’s first scoring pass went to Devin Henry and covered 48 yards. The touchdown was the game’s first and came with 8:55 to go in the opening period.

In the second quarter High found Ashton Melton near the left pylon on a scoring play that covered 11 yards.

With 3:41 to go in the third frame High dashed in from three yards out to give Jacksonville a 213 lead.

Jacksonville salted the win away via a Deahvion Spencer 44-yard touchdown run up the middle on the second play of the fourth stanza as Jacksonville took a commanding 286 lead.

Hallsville’s only touchdown came with 9:46 left in the game when a Bobcat defender scooped up a High fumble and returned it 12 yards for a score.

Alan Acuna added field goals covering 38 and 22 yards to account for the Bobcats’ remaining points.

Both teams will continue nondistrict play next Friday with Jacksonville visiting Mount Pleasant and Hallsville hosting Nacogdoches.
