White Oak beats Whitehouse for title

The Whitehouse LadyCats lost to defending Class 2A state champion White Oak in the finals of the Carthage Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

Whitehouse won the first game 25-19, but White Oak cruised in the last two, 25-13, 25-15.



Blakely Braughton led the LadyCats with 11 kills against White Oak. Teammate Angela Knight contributed 10 assists. Whitehouse beat Carthage in the Gold Bracket semifinals, 26-24, 25-20.

The LadyCats finished first in their pool on Thursday by defeating Elysian Fields, Jasper and Hemphill.

The LadyCats (5-1) will entertain Robert E. Lee on Tuesday (freshman and JV at 5 p.m., varsity at 6 p.m.).
