Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owners Rogelio and Carrie Mendiola Tellez about the restaurant’s special place in the community.
The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.
C Rojo’s Taqueria began as a food truck, C Rojo’s Mobile Cuisine, in 2019. The first brick-and-mortar location in North Tyler opened exactly a year to the day later but closed in September. The newest location on South Broadway Avenue opened this summer.
The taqueria serves from-scratch Mexican and Pacific Islander fusion, the inspiration for which was Carrie’s “pickiness” when it came to food, said Rogelio. He began to mix the two cuisines in an attempt to broaden her palate.
The extensive menu offers an array of unusual choices, from shrimp tacos with mango pico to soppe con green chorizo to kimchi fries to a brussels sprout filling for tacos and burritos.
“It’s become really popular,” Tellez said of the brussels sprouts, describing the dish as a mix of Asian flair and Italian flair. “It’s a little different.”

The restaurant also has homemade corn and flour tortillas, green chorizo made only in Toluca, Mexico, and other gourmet tacos such as pastor.
