Audrey Deatherage

Tyler Legacy senior tennis player Audrey Deatherage has been named the Built Ford Tough Texas Class 6A Female Athlete of the Month for the month of September.

“It means a lot. My coach told me I won this award at our practice one day and everyone just congratulated me. It was a big deal, and my family was just so proud, so it just gives me a lot of confidence and makes me more excited to further on my career with everything,” Deatherage said in an interview with Ric Renner.

Deatherage is 15-2 this season in singles and 19-1 in doubles with Sophie Miller.

Deatherage went to the state tournament as a sophomore. She was the 2022 winner of the Best Preps Tyler award for girls tennis.

Deatherage has committed to play at the University of Texas.

Deatherage and Legacy (19-2) were set to face Wylie in the regional quarterfinals Tuesday at Sulphur Springs.
